The woman driving of the car, who has yet to be indentified by police, was taken to the Nebraska Medical Center in serious condition.
Witnesses tell Channel 6 News they saw the woman driving erratically, knocking down construction barriers and signs, before she crashed into the hole.
The hole is due to construction on the road in the area, where traffic is pushed down to one westbound lane starting near 75th Street at Center.
MUD was called to the scene because the car came to rest on an exposed waterline; it was shut off until the car can be removed.
Police say a crane will be used to hoist the Blue, Ford Escape up and out of the hole.
