Man in prison to be sentenced in Cass County District Court on August 26th for two vehicle thefts. The Cassgram reports 36-year-old Jerry S. Justice of Plattsmouth pleaded guilty to two felonies as part of a plea agreement in which a felony meth possession charge was dismissed and the prosecution agreed to not pursue “habitual criminal” notations on either conviction.
Last November, Justice was driving a vehicle stolen from Plattsmouth, a Nissan Altima, and when that vehicle ran out of gas, stole another vehicle in western Cass County, a Ford pickup, said Deputy Cass County Attorney Rick Fedde. In both cases, the keys were left in the vehicles.
Fedde said distinctive matching items were found in each vehicle that connected Justice to both thefts.
Court documents show Justice is currently serving a 20-month to five-year sentence in the Nebraska Department of Corrections for possession of methamphetamine.
Justice will be sentenced in Cass County for theft by receiving, a Class IV Felony that carries up to a $5,000 fine, five years in jail or both, and for theft by receiving, a Class III Felony that carries up to a $25,000 fine, up to 20 years in jail, or both.
