Car Theft Victim Turns To Craigslist

The social media site Craigslist has been used to sell and trade items for quite awhile and now it's being used by crime victims. One man is putting Craigslist to work.

You can find almost anything for sale on Craigslist. You can also look for missing items like pets, wallets or phones. Now someone is looking for a stolen car and offering a reward.

A picture of the missing car is on Craigslist, a dark blue 1998 Acura Integra with a sunroof and sun visor. “Got no exhaust on it at all, had that taken off, gonna do some work on it, front passenger side wheel is a different color, it’s black, all steel wheel, no hubcaps, the others are aluminum, there’s some damage on the driver’s side of it,” said Matt Einarsson, who purchased the car on December 18th. Nine days later it was gone.

He tried looking for the vehicle himself, then decided to go to Craigslist for help. “I use Craigslist, a lot of buying and trading, stuff like that. So it's someplace I'm familiar with and I know a lot of people use it, so I figured it would be the best chance for exposure. Doesn't cost me any money, doesn't take a lot of my time."

Matt's ad has received some responses. Some people claim to have seen the stolen car in traffic, but so far his car is still out there and there is a reward for getting Matt his car back. He has come up with a three-tier reward system, offering $1,000 if you find his car in good running condition. He will also pay $1,000 if the car is wrecked, but if you find the people responsible, too. If the car is wrecked and you find it, he will pay $600.

So you can also make some money by checking out Craigslist.
