A home near 96th and Blondo wiped out by burglars in broad daylight, everything stolen including a truck out of the garage.
Steve Nickles, the homeowner tells Channel Six burglars hit his home last Thursday while he was out of town between 9am-3pm.
“I feel violated I can't believe that it happened to me,” says Nickles. “It's a feeling I don't wish upon anybody.”
Burglars kicked down his front door to get in, then began ransacking the entire house, taking televisions, clothes, and laptops.
The thieves also took Nickles' truck, a 2005 Ford F-150 that is dark gray. Nickles says the truck was full of tools he uses as a carpenter.
“My vehicle that I need to provide for my family to make a living is gone.”
But Nickles says what he’s most devastated about is something that can’t be replaced. The burglars stole the remains of the family dog. A pit bull named "Security".
“I would love to get her back,” says Nickles. “She’s a part of my life and it’s sad they went to that extreme.”
Nickles is hoping that someone spots his truck and can help get his stuff back.
For now the entire family is staying with relatives too afraid the burglars will strike again.
Nickles estimates his truck and all the other items stolen were worth more than $36,000.
