It's only October but the January Roses are preparing to bloom. Methodist Hospital has an eye on Pasadena.
On Monday, Methodist Hospital became the first in Nebraska to sign and dedicate a Rose vial to be placed on a national float - The Donate Life Rose Parade Float.
It honors those hospitals across the country who encourage organ and tissue donations.
CEO Steve Goeser says he identified an opportunity here in the metro and within his staff.
He says the idea is to, "try to increase the number of donors in our state. Health care makes up a very large part of the workforce in Nebraska. We had an opportunity to go to our employees asking for them to consider being an organ donor."
Nebraska Organ Recovery says they're goal is to have eight to 10 Nebraska hospitals represented on the Donate Life Rose Parade Float.
