Lincoln Police want people to be aware of a scam in which the caller pretends to be with law enforcement.

Police said a 56-year-old woman got a call Monday morning from someone claiming to be with the Lancaster County Attorney's Office.
The woman told police the caller was pushy and said if she didn't pay for her daughter's fines she would be arrested.

Out of fear, the woman gave the caller her credit card number and her daughter's social security number.

"After calming down the woman did call the Lancaster County Prosecutors Office who confirmed that they would make no such call," said Katie Flood, Lincoln Police Officer. "These are tactics they would not use."

The victim lost $570 in the scam.

Police are investigating four other similar reports that happened over the past few months.

They say to never give personal information over the phone unless you initiate the call and know who you are talking to.
