Cabela’s Incorporated has announced it will pledge $1 million toward the construction of a new kindergarten-through-fourth-grade elementary school in the City of Sidney, Nebraska.
In a special election Sept. 10, registered voters in Cheyenne County School District No. 1 will vote on the issuance of a $15.85 million bond to finance the project. Cabela’s donation will be used to offset costs of the project if the bond passes.
Initial plans indicate the school would be located at Fort Sidney Road and Toledo Street as part of a major expansion of East Sidney. It would replace the current North, South and Central elementary locations, all of which are more than 50 years old.
