CU Mania: Fans Come Out In Droves To Support Bluejays

Last season, Creighton University set records for average home attendance. They were sixth in the nation. 2012 has all the makings to follow suit, Creighton mania is in full swing for fans.

Creighton played Boise State and the place was packed full of blue and white. Many screaming fans, rooting on the Bluejays, although they were trailing most of the game.

In the world of fandom, everyone has a few suggestions for others in the crowd. “They tend to stand up when they are supposed to but they sit down too soon. We'd like everyone to stay standing the whole time and the team tends to do better," said Amanda Maki.

It’s a rarity for the team to lose at home. “It’s a lot of pressure,” said Maki.

And fans feel the need to rise to the occasion, “We're definitely frustrated but I think we're staying positive for the most part. The team is definitely keeping it classy,” Maki explained.

The crowd on the night of the Boise State game was the largest crowd of the season, at 16,364.

Afterward, the head coach praised fans for the boost. But it wasn’t enough, Boise State walked away with its biggest upset in school history.

Creighton goes on to play University of Nebraska on Thursday night in Lincoln; a team well known for lots of fans as well. All signs point to a packed house.
