Businesses Boost Normandy Campaign

The Benson ROTC program is still working hard to make it to Normandy this summer for the 70th anniversary commemoration. As part of its latest fundraiser, you might see some of boots around town.

Nine businesses in the area, like Bob Beck's Barbery at 51st and Northwest Radial, are displaying pairs of combat boots for the program and asking for donations.

Beck is a veteran himself and he hopes that by taking donations at his business, he can help make a difference for them.

“The veterans have been very good about donating to these guys and sticking money in the boot,” he said. “So it's been good for the community to, to get behind something like this.”

Benson ROTC is sending 28 kids to march in the Normandy parade. It's going to cost $90,000. So far, the program has raised approximately $63,000.
