Business Wants Burglar Caught

An area business is asking for our help in finding a man that broke into their store.

Someone broke into the Jet Ex 66 at 144th and Blondo a few weeks ago.

The business owners want to find and prosecute the suspect and they can show us what the suspect looks like.

Bethany Hartso is the day manager at the Jet Ex 66 at 144th and Blondo.

She sees a lot of familiar faces.

"Everybody that comes here are regulars," she said. "We know them by name and we want people to continue to come here and not be afraid."

Afraid of what happened early in the morning of November 12th, when a burglar came calling.

"The whole door was busted out," Bethany said.

But the suspect didn't know his actions were captured on video.

"He runs clear around here," Bethany explains. "Puts his duffel bag on the floor and went like this...woosh...and knocked all the promotional cigarettes into his bag and then he goes over here and starts grabbing cartons. Then he comes over here (by a window) puts the bag up here and grabs a few of the bigger bottles of liquor."

The suspect's last stop is for scratch lottery tickets.

"And when he stops he just goes wisk, wisk, wisk and pulls some scratch tickets off," Bethany said.

After about a minute, he's gone.

"It really kind of shook me because I get here in the morning," Bethany said.

But the burglar left behind some solid evidence...his picture.

Bethany and the shop's owners are fed up.

"Absolutely, absolutely," she said. "We've got pictures, video of his face and we're hoping with the help of the police he'll get caught and justice will be served. We just really want this guy to get caught."

And by taking scratch tickets, the suspect may have created a bigger problem...for himself.

"That's just stupid the scratch tickets because that will be federal now," Bethany said. "So he's gotten himself in a little more trouble."

If anyone can identify the suspect they are asked to call the Douglas County Sheriff's office tip line at 402-444-6000.

Incidentally, anyone buying scratch tickets from the suspect could also be facing federal charges.

Bethany says their best option is to turn the suspect in.
