A rural burglary late last week prompts a seasonal reminder from the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.
Last Friday, deputies investigated a residential burglary on Ranch Road between Plattsmouth and Louisville. The complainant advised his family left the residence at about 6:30am and returned at about 5:30pm to discover damages to a window and the front door left open.
The Cassgram reports Cass County Sheriff Wm. C. Brueggemann says the investigation determined money and jewelry, valued at around $2,500, were taken. Damage to the property exceeded $1000.
The sheriff is again asking for the assistance of citizens to call in any unusual or suspicious activities to the dispatch center. The holiday period incurs higher than normal criminal activity due to busy schedules and some residences are left unoccupied more frequently. Making a mental note of the activities in your surroundings can often times help law enforcement develop leads and stop those involved in illegal activities.
