Two men have been arrested and booked for burglary in connection with a February break-in. They're identified as 18-year-old Ramiro Ramirez and 21-year-old Marlin Rivera.
WOWT 6 News talked to the victims' parents, and they said their twenty-three year old daughter, Yolanda Jimenez, acted quickly to protect their son and one year old grand-daughter. The parents were at work at the time of the burglary.
Javier Jimenez, Yolanda's father, said one of the men knocked at the front door for quite some time. The knocking stopped and Yolanda then saw the man walk toward the alley behind the house to let another man in.
"Those guys put the gloves on right here and my daughter said this is not good," said Javier Jimenez.
Yolanda immediately called 911.
"She right away grabbed the boy and the grand-daughter went and hid in the closet dialed 9-1-1 and the operator told her to just stay inside until the cops get here," said Irma Jimenez, through a translator.
Police say the men forced their way in the back door, and began walking from room to room stealing televisions, tablets and laptops.
The Jimenez' were hidden in the basement closet the entire time.
Police arrived to find Ramirez and Rivera still in the home and in possession of the victim’s property. Both were booked for burglary.
The burglary happened near 15th and Z on February 27th.
