We are getting our first look at surveillance video you'll only see on Channel 6 News. The robbers loaded up on tequila and rum.
At first glimpse the burglars didn’t seem to be in a hurry and they didn’t seem to mind being on camera. "I have a good camera system, it's over $20,000,” says Kevin Tworek, owner of Mr. Butt’s Tobacco and Snacks at 36th and V streets in Omaha.
On the night of November 18th it didn't matter. One of the suspects leaned over the counter and tried to get the sliding door open, but when it wouldn't open they smashed through the glass. He jumped over the counter and tossed glass tobacco pipes into a bag. “They broke some of the merchandise they were stealing, some of the tobacco pipes,” says Tworek. “They put them in bags and they just kept throwing them in there.”
One of the burglars slammed the bag of glass pipes on the counter. “If I were a thief I wouldn't have done what they did.” Tworek says the burglars also took off with some of the shops special tequila. “They actually took some of these bottles. They took about two cases.”
They threw in some special edition Bacardi rum, too. “I seen one of the guys grabbed a bottle and then he changed his mind and put the bottle back and grabbed a case of a cheaper one and I'm like, wow."
Tworek says the four burglars left him out $2,000 and he hopes someone will recognize them. “Honestly, I hope they get what they get. I hope they get caught."
Tworek says he'll give a reward to anyone offering information that leads to the arrest of any of the suspects.
