Burglars Are Back: Another Report From The Knolls

During a crime spree in in the spring Omaha Police indicated there were more than a dozen reports of burglaries in the area just east of The Knolls golf course. In the months since then we have documented a handful more burglary reports.
Cale McLouth thought he had covered his bases when he went out of town for the weekend. "We had friends and family stop by the house over the 48 hours we were gone," said McLouth.
One thing that he forgot to do was have someone pick up the newspapers that gathered in his driveway. It's possible that was the tip that thieves needed to knock on his front door and, when nobody answered, kick it in.
Thieves got away with hunting equipment, jewelry and a flat screen television.
When we talked with OPD detectives about this pattern of crime in May of this year they were hopeful that word would spread around the neighborhood and people would report suspicious activity immediately. It sounds like that is still the case in a neighborhood where more than 20 burglaries have been reported in the past 18 months.
