The Nebraska Attorney General's Office is appealing the dismissal of a lawsuit that tried to block part of the federal health care law requiring contraception coverage for employees.
Republican Jon Bruning's office filed the case on behalf of Catholic Social Services, Pius X High School, the Catholic Mutual Relief Society of America, a nun and a female missionary. Republican attorneys general for Florida, Michigan, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Texas joined the legal challenge.
A federal judge dismissed the case in July, saying the plaintiffs had no standing to bring their claim.
The newly filed notice of appeal will send the case to the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.
