Iowa Governor Terry Branstad has named a 40-member council to advise him on science and technology education that he says is essential in a changing workplace.
The council will be headed by Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds and University of Northern Iowa President Ben Allen.
Branstad says members of the council come from a broad array of the state's business, education and civic sectors.
He says the group will be given time to develop a comprehensive
plan that will go beyond the education proposals he will have for
the next legislative session.
The governor has said he will announce those legislative proposals early next month, and he will look to the advisory council to build on those proposals.
