Boy In Custody Battle, High-Speed Chase, Crash In Critical Condition

A 5-year-old boy injured in a crash following a high-speed chase in Iowa Friday remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Police say 33-year-old Jeremiah Johnson led officers on the pursuit that began in Clive when an officer tried to pull him over. The Iowa State Patrol took over and followed the car into Indianola where it slammed into a parked, unoccupied police cruiser at an estimated 130 mph.

Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene. The boy was found on the back seat floor.

Johnson had been in a custody battle over the boy and the boy's mother reported him missing and endangered in November.
