A teen was hit by a car while crossing an Omaha street late Thursday afternoon. Police say 15-year-old Kayvin Simmons was struck after walking into traffic.
Witnesses told police that a Metro bus was stopped at a green light on Cuming Street. They say Simmons walked north on 24th street into traffic. He was struck by a white Ford Explorer drive by 25-year-old Jesse Lantz.
Police say Simmons flew several feet and landed across the intersection under another car.
Simmons was transported to CUMC by OFD squad with serious injuries. He is being treated for a fractured pelvis, fractured leg, internal head and abdominal injuries. He is in serious but stable condition. Neither speed nor alcohol were factors. Witnesses advised investigators that the Explorer had a green light.
