Lambda Chi Alpha’s North American Food Drive, the world’s largest Greek philanthropy, returns to Omaha this month.

The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity will sponsor Bounce-a-Thon – along with the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority at UNO – on Monday, Oct. 10, through Wednesday, Oct. 12, at the Pep Bowl, south of the Eppley Administration Building.

During the event, fraternity and sorority members will bounce for 48 consecutive hours on a trampoline outdoors at the Pep Bowl.

UNO students, faculty, staff and members of the community can purchase a ticket for the raffle or donate non-perishable food items or money in collection boxes at the Pep Bowl.

All food and money donated will be distributed to the needy of Omaha through the Omaha Food Bank.

The North American Food Drive has provided more than 32.5 million pounds of food for needy families in local communities throughout the United States and Canada over the past 16 years. With the growing support of sponsors, local communities and the efforts of more than 8,000 members, 2,966,779 pounds of food was donated last year.

National figures show that 35.5 million people – including 12.6 million children – live in households that experience hunger or the risk of hunger. That number represents more than one in 10 households in the United States.
