A slight scare for those who live in the area of Interstate 680 and Fort Street in Omaha Wednesday afternoon. The OPD Bomb Squad was called to check out a suspicious object.
What looked like a simple propane tank was actually a refrigeration unit. The wires and unfamiliar hardware near the valve concerned a Nebraska State Patrol trooper who originally stopped to check on the tank. Because of the grime, wires and unusual hardware, he decided to call the Bomb Squad.
The robot was dispatched to check on the tank and after a closer examination it was determined it was not an improvised explosive device.
The tank was cleaned up and taken away by Bomb Squad technicians.
