The body of a North Bend, Nebraska man who disappeared while out hunting was found Wednesday morning in the Platte River.
The Colfax County Attorney's Office says 68-year-old LeRoy Bird was reported missing when he didn't return home Tuesday night. His family said he had been at a cabin near the Platte River outside of Rogers.
Searchers found Bird's body in the river near an overturned boat. His hunting dog and gun were found about a mile downstream. An autopsy is planned to determine the cause of death.
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission says there have now been eight deaths on the state's waterways this year. Normally there are five deaths per year on Nebraska waterways.
