Pictures and artifacts from the old Great Plains Black History Museum are now on display. The gallery is set up at the downtown library.
It is called Past, Present and Future. The exhibit represents a part of the collection of the museum that officials want to share.
Terri Sanders, with the museum, said, “The Great Plains Black History Museum and building has been closed since 1997. Our motto is the building is closed, the museum is open. And this is part of us being open, giving presentations to the public in non-traditional places that represent the museum."
The exhibit opened Thursday and runs through January 31st.
Organizers say they are working to raise funds to build a new Black History Museum, hopefully in the near future.
