Omaha may be a big city but one event brings small town excitement. The Benson High Magnet School homecoming parade through the Benson business district.
Police blocked off Maple for the parade which features the marching band and ROTC cadets. The football team and cheerleaders follow to the waves and smiles of adults and youngsters who line the parade route.
One woman there to watch her grandson go by said, “It’s great, I’d rather see this than violence.” The sister in law of the football coach said, “It’s very special. The community needs to do more things like this. Its gets everyone involved a fun.”
The Bunnies play Papillion South at Benson stadium for the homecoming game.
