Big Way To Remember A Missed Soul

Many people in the Gretna community describe William Braesch Jr. the same way.

"Hard working man, he would do anything for you, he'd give you the shirt off his back if you need one," said Jake Holzworth, friend.

Braesch was shot and killed inside his own home over the July13th. The suspect in the case is Braesch's own son, Steven Braesch.

The act comes as a true shock in the small farming town of Gretna.

"It really upset a lot of people in this community," said Holzworth.

But that sadness was quickly channeled into a memorial that is near impossible to miss, especially from the road. Big round bails of hay spell out "RIP Bill."

Braesch was a farmer all his life, so it only made sense when it came time to honor him, to use what he worked with everyday, hay.

In true farming style, friends and fellow farmers came up with a small idea that is making a big impact.

"I guess the main reason we did like, I said, this because he was a man worth paying tribute too," said Nate Barry, friend.

The sight of it touching anyone's heart that knew Bill.

"Ya got a little choked up ya know, it was really awesome seeing it, I know he'd like it, he'd probably tell us we wasted too much time doing it, but I think he is looking down and he is smiling," said Holzworth.
