The Offutt Air Force Base Airshow returns on Saturday July 19 and Sunday July 20 after government budget cuts forced it's cancellation in 2013.
Planning for the show began last December with an overall group of about 70 people.
Major Bryan Burger normally pilots the huge E-4 Advanced Airborne Command Post but he's also taken on the immense task of directing the 2014 Offutt Air Show.
"We've got a standard and we really think we're going to exceed that standard this year," he told WOWT 6 News in an interview at the Base.
The Offutt Air Show has been a favorite for area families for more than 40 years and judging from the initial response, Major Burger expects a strong turnout this year.
"We have an added VIP feature this year and it's already sold out for both days."
One reason for that is the fact there are two headliners for the show: The Blue Angels and the F22 Raptor.
"The best way to describe it is like your top two favorite musicians on the same stage. That's what we have from an air show standpoint. we have the two biggest stars and we couldn't be happier about it."
Other than the VIP section, there is no charge to attend the show and shuttle buses will run continually from four off-base locations.
Security measures similar to airline travel will be in effect and food vendors will be on hand. Coolers and pets are not allowed.
