Omaha police say 23-year old Johnathon Sorensen had a busy night committing crimes. Officers were first called to the area of 42nd & Y when someone said a man was attempting to steal his vehicle. The thief fled the area on a bicycle.
Officers were informed that a man, matching the same description, was involved in a burglary near 43rd & Monroe. An officer searching the neighborhood saw a bicycle on the ground behind a Saturn, which was parked near 39th & X Street.
The officer reports he found Sorensen inside the Saturn and trying to steal it. Sorensen also had a backpack full of items that were stolen from a garage at the 43rd & Monroe location. Police say Sorensen tried to steal a vehicle from that residence as well.
Sorensen was finally able to find a ride by car – in the form of a police cruiser – to jail where he was booked for three counts of theft unlawful taking, three counts of possessing burglary tools, burglary, and possession of a controlled substance.
