Benson marked its 127th birthday with the annual Benson Days celebration on Saturday.
Crowds lined the streets for the parade as drummers marched, dancers performed and candy was handed out.
Neighborhood resident Denise Moran said there are a lot of reasons to celebrate Benson. "The sense of community around here, how everybody just loves everybody else and are just so helpful and everything."
"I just kind of like to go through all of the little areas where people make things and the farmer's market is really interesting to me because I like to garden,” said Cheral Powell.
"I think that Benson is going to continue to grow and I love seeing all of the new people coming in," said another attendee. "I think that's really great for the city, too."
Maple Street will remain closed between 59th and 63rd streets until 10 p.m. Saturday.
