Bellevue Storm Damage

Cleanup may be a little more difficult for people in Bellevue. Heavy snow left tree limbs and branches snapping all over Olde Towne.

A day after hunkering down at home to avoid getting stuck in the snowstorm, Bellevue residents are stuck with cleaning up downed tree branches. Eric Zeitner says he was looking to see if his neighbors had any damage during the storm Saturday night, when he heard a snap and crackle. Now, he's got broken branches on the ground and stuck in his tree...

"Way up top there 60-70 feet I was watching them sway back and forth about 5-10 feet either side and thought for sure a lot more were going to snap and come down in the street," Zeitner explained.

When you take frozen branches weighted down by snow, gravity seems to take care of the rest. On almost every block in Olde Towne Bellevue, limbs split in half under the weight of the snow.

"I think it's a disaster, it's going to be worse in the spring when the branches die,” said Bellevue resident John Stacey. "I took a big tree down here that's been here since I built the house in 1960. I was getting all nervous about it hanging over the house."

Residents in that area were without power for a short time Saturday.
