Lincoln residents can now buy beer and wine legally on Sunday mornings. Nebraska's capital city dropped its long-standing ban on Sunday alcohol sales this weekend.
The change was part of a package of reforms the Lincoln City Council passed that will require training and permits for anyone who will sell or serve alcohol in the capital city starting next year.
State law allows local governments to regulate Sunday beer sales and some cities and counties have passed ordinances to allow sales of beer before noon on Sundays.
After a new state law takes effect on July 19th, Lincoln businesses will also be able to sell liquor before noon on Sundays.
