If you picked up the sweet scent of bacon in downtown Omaha Saturday afternoon, it was the Omaha Jaycees second annual Beer and Bacon Festival.
Bacon dishes from 11 food vendors were being served at 13th and Cass streets. Plenty of beer vendors were also on-hand, offering something to wash down all of that bacon goodness with the proceeds going to benefit the Omaha Jaycees and Omaha’s Ronald McDonald House.
"The members of our organization want to give back to our community and we have chosen the Ronald McDonald House as our charity to give back to,” said the Jaycees' Nicole Seckman Jilek. “We know the Ronald McDonald House benefits so many families in our area and we wanted to choose a very worthy organization."
The festival was also a local preliminary round of the World Food Championship's Bacon Division. The winner will go on to compete in the world food championship in Las Vegas.
