Production was expected to resume Friday at a Grand Island beef plant where E. coli bacteria was found in some of the meat earlier this week.
JBS suspended production to clean up the facility. Company spokesman Chandler Keys said the E. coli was found in a routine test of beef trimmings. JBS had not shipped any of the meat from that batch because it waits for the test results, so no beef is being recalled.
Keys said workers cleaned the plant and retreated or cooked all the meat processed within a half-day of the positive test.
