The U.S. Attorney's Office for Nebraska says two Miami men have indicted on federal charges of conspiring to steal beef and pork products from Omaha meat processors.
Federal prosecutors said Thursday that 25-year-old Jose Gonzalo-Paulette and 39-year-old Guillermo Riol are accused of conspiring with others to steal more than $330,000 worth of meat from Nebraska Beef and Quality Pork International plants.
Prosecutors say the men used the identity of a legitimate trucking company to bid on hauling loads of meat from the Omaha plants. Authorities say the men picked up the loads, which never made it to their destinations and were never located.
The suspects are scheduled to appear in Omaha's federal court on July 3rd. Each face up to 29 years in federal prison if convicted.
