A self-described young professional wants to serve her community at the state level. In a news release issued Wednesday, Laura Baumgartner announced she will run for the 20th district of the Nebraska Legislature.
State Senator Brad Ashford currently holds the seat. He will not be able to run next year due to term limits.
Baumgartner currently works as a project manager for an Omaha ad agency. The release also cites volunteer work with the Old Millard East Neighborhood Association, and the Omaha Women’s Fund.
Baumgartner says she knows what it takes to attract and keep young people in Nebraska.
"Nebraska's slogan is ‘The Good Life,’ and Nebraska's standard of living requires investments in a quality education for children, affordable tuition rates at our universities, and by attracting and retaining businesses for our state."
The UNO graduate is asking those interested to take an issues survey accessible from her website.
"I’m a good listener, and that is what will make me a good public servant,” says Baumgartner.
