It was a gifted and talented showdown at Girls Inc on Tuesday.
The Battle of the Books began earlier this year with teams of young readers from 27 area schools. The teams were given a list of twenty books to read.
On Tuesday the teams met in a contest to see who retained the most information from the reading assignment.
The fourth, fifth and sixth graders faced a barrage of questions about the books they had read to see which team could come up with the most correct answers.
Win lose or draw, the students were all winners in terms of their love for reading.
Kaylee Brilz told Channel 6 News, “It's a lot of pleasure for me to read and i really like enhancing my vocabulary and things like that.”
Killian Green said “TV and video games make your brain mush while reading does the opposite, it strengthens your brain.”
isabella Maggio added “i think reading is important because it helps you learn how to spell thing better and you get a better understanding of what the characters are thinking”.
The contest was hosted by the OPS Gifted and Talented Department.
