If Batman had a favorite Omaha event, this would be it: more than 250 Big Brown Bats were released Monday night.
Unfortunately here in the metro the bats like to hibernate inside people's homes. The Nebraska Wildlife Rehab Center captured them during the winter. Now that spring is here they are headed back into the wild.
Close to 1,000 people turned out to enjoy the sight.
Mitch Makayla didn’t want to miss this. "Huge animal lover,” he said. “We go to the zoo. Anytime there is an event with animals we love to go."
Along with the release, families enjoyed many fun-filled activities like face painting, bat IQ tests and more.
