A neighborhood bar is the scene of a brutal attack as regulars try to protect a pregnant bartender.
That is when the attack turned especially savage because the thugs did not spare anyone from their punches and kicks.
It was last Sunday night and the regulars were watching football at the North Shore Bar. That's until a group of young men entered the bar and immediately started causing trouble. They were asked to leave and started to, but then the bartender asked for their mugs back, things went from bad to worse.
That's about the time Mikey stepped in. A former Marine, he knew the confrontation was about to turn violent and decided he had to act before the men reached the bartender. "I just stepped in front of her and told her to get back and these guys started moving towards us and I was telling everyone to get back and call the police."
Mikey believes at least five people stomped him into the parking lot. His nose was broken and he lost several teeth, but he wasn't alone. In all, six North Shore regulars stepped in to stop the fights and were assaulted for their efforts.
“You can't stand by and let bad stuff like that happen or society is going to crumble," said Mikey. "I just could not believe that these guys thought it was funny." Mikey believes there are still several thugs out there and hopes they are arrested soon. He figures a little jail time may make up for what their parents apparently forgot to teach them.
Twenty-five-year-old Thomas Carroll of Casper, Wyoming and 22-year-old Michael Gorman of Houston were arrested for the assaults. Police found Gorman hiding in a dumpster. Investigators are looking for others who may have been involved.
