A suspect in a downtown Omaha bank robbery Friday was arrested Sunday, just four days before his 59th birthday. Records show he is no stranger to that particular branch.
With the assistance of U.S. Marshals, the OPD Gang Unit, and the fugitive unit, officers found Albert Dansby in the area of Park Avenue & Woolworth. He was arrested during a traffic stop.
On Friday, a man matching Dansby’s description walked into the Bank of the West branch at 20th & Harney Street. The man did not show a weapon, but he demanded money and left through an alley. Surveillance pictures were released through news media with a description of a many being in his late 40’s to 50’s.
Dansby is also suspected of robbing the US Bank at 17th & Harney on July 24.
Dansby appears to be familiar with the Bank of the West Branch at 20th & Harney. In 2006, Channel 6 News reported that he was named a suspect for the December 30, 2005 robbery of the same branch. He also demanded cash and fled on foot. Online records show he was an escapee.
