Authorities say a resident at the Gage County jail over the weekend caused quite a ruckus. Sheriff Millard “Gus” Gustafson says 28-year old Joshua Barber caused a disturbance in his cell block Sunday evening and refused orders to enter his holding cell.
A struggle began after officers entered the cell block to escort Barber into his holding cell. At one point, a correctional officer received an injury to the forehead. The officer deployed a Taser on Barber which alleviated the situation. Before things were under control, a distress call was placed triggering response from the Gage County Sheriff’s office, Beatrice Police and the Nebraska State Patrol.
Barber was then booked for assault by a confined person. He was scheduled to be transferred to the Nebraska State Penitentiary Monday.
