Awww! Blind Dog Rescued From Sewer

A little dog falls down into a storm sewer while out on a walk with his owner.

Albert Armendariz has a family member down in the sewer.

Albert says, "This morning he stepped over the storm sewer and the next thing I know I saw his front paws and his head and he went inside it."

Tippy fell down the sewer in front of his home, traveled up the hill, and was eventually rescued right in front of our Channel 6 news vehicle.

After two hours of searching, a work crew from Utility Service Group finally gets their hands on Tippy. They pull him up and reunite him with his owner.

Albert says, "I was pretty scared. The dog is 14-years-old. He's half blind. half deaf. He's the longest dog I've ever had. A good companion. I didn't think he was going to make it. It was quite a bit of a drop down and so cold outside I thought we might have lost him."

But the 14-year-old Shitzu is now safe and warm at home thanks to a group of guys who stepped in to help.

Jason Nelson, Utility Service Group says, "We take care of this development for the engineering company for the sewers so they called us up. It's a little different than normal, come down, crawled down the pipe and got him out."

Tippy means a lot to Albert and his family, he hopes the old dog has a lot of years left.

Albert says, "We got the dog after we moved into the house in 1998, the do is older than both of my kids," Albert laughs.

Albert had to call into work today to tell his boss he had to take the day off because he couldn't find his dog. Let the record show that Albert was telling the truth.
