The feathered contestants are being prepared for the 33rd annual Avoca Quack-Off in the southeast Nebraska village of Avoca.
Last year more than 1,000 people filled the town of 240 to watch the ducks race. Avoca sits 32 miles east of Lincoln.
David Seay says local farmers raise the ducks, which are collected the day before or the morning of the event. They're held in a cattle trailer until race time.
Contestants can register their own ducks or rent ducks for the races, which this year will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Seay says about 300 people signed up to race ducks last year.
There's no prize for winning - just quacking rights.
