UPDATE: Authorities Identify Man Found in Park

Authorities are piecing together how a man wound up in a Ralston park Friday morning suffering from exposure and tucked half inside a cement drainage sewer.

Omaha Police have since identified him as 20-year-old Morgan Lee Howard.

Ciara Carson made the disturbing discovery Friday morning.

“Kept asking, ‘are you OK?’ And saw a little movement so I know he was still alive,” she said.

What was supposed to be a typical Friday morning for Ciara had taken a sudden turn.

“I could just see him, half sticking out of the sewer. Looked hurt. My dog was barking, my neighbor dog was barking and definitely knew something wasn't right.”

Carson knew she had to act fast.

“I kept asking, ‘are you OK, are you OK?’ Didn't get a response from him. He didn't turn around to acknowledge that I was speaking to him, so I called 911.”

Investigators arrived, the Crime Lab snapped photos and detectives spoke with neighbors. It was determined that Howard was dressed in only shorts and a T-shirt and was suffering from bleeding around the head area. He was taken to the Nebraska Medical Center with critical injuries due to exposure. Investigators believed Howard was in the cold for several hours.

Carson said the situation was frightening.

“I just wanted to make sure everything was safe for my daughter inside. It is scary. My husband's at work. Stuff happens when he isn't here.”

Investigators have not determined how Howard wound up in the gutter.
