A homeowner in an upscale Omaha neighborhood tells authorities that suspects attempted to invade his home.
The incident occurred Thursday night in Linden Estates near 144th and Blondo. Douglas County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to the reported of an attempted home invasion.
Dr. Joby Varghese told authorities had been out watering plants when two men approached him and demanded money and credit cards. They then asked Varghese to take them to a bank to withdraw money. "I turned around and before I knew it both were one on either side and both of them had guns with them," says Varghese
He says the men then tried to get him to go in his house, but ran off after his son noticed something was wrong. His 14-year-old daughter Ann called 911.
"I was shocked. I wouldn't really expect that to happen to my family. You know the world's a dangerous place, but you wouldn't expect anything to happen to you."
The two men ran off after seeing police cruisers in the distance. Deputies searched the neighborhood and the Omaha police helicopter also assisted, but no suspects have been located. If you have information you're asked to call the Douglas County Sheriff's Department tip line at 402-444-6000.
