The assault case, against two teenagers accused in another teen's death, has been moved to Juvenile Court.
On Friday, Markell Vaughn, 16, entered a No Contest admission to accessory in an assault. Trevaun Ammons, 16, entered an admission of No Contest to manslaughter.
Vaughn and Ammons allegedly got into a fight with 16-year-old Aquilee Muse as he walked with a group on May 9, near 21st and Burt Streets. Muse suffered a head injury and was pronounced brain dead several days later.
According to court documents it was Trevaun Ammons and Aquilee Muse who were fighting. Muse lost his balance, Markell Vaughn hit Muse and Muse fell, hitting his head on the concrete.
Ammons' attorney, Randy Paragas said, “This was an old fashioned fist fight that just went horribly wrong.”
He added, “All of the kids involved are good kids.”
Both teens will meet for a predispositional investigation to see if they are eligible for probation.
