What started as a routine call turned into much more in Midtown Omaha Monday. A woman slipped one hand out of police handcuffs, then slipped out of a police cruiser. Police have identified her as 37-year-old Seandra Forsyth.
It all started just before 11 a.m. Omaha Police were called out to 59th and Center to investigate reports of a woman going through someone's van.
The van owner Brandon Leonard says police arrived, arrested the woman, and put her in the back of a cruiser. That's when she slipped away.
"They were going through her car, and the cops look over and said, 'What's the door doing open? And she was gone,'" says Leonard.
Police caught up with the woman a second time, roughly a half a mile away at 60th & Spring. She was taken to the Nebraska Medical Center after complaining of a medical issue.
Forsyth faces charges of escape and criminal mischief.
