Court date set for a husband and wife accused of physically abusing a 13-year-old girl at Eagle Raceway. Roger and Theresa Brindley, both age 34 and of Lincoln, each face a Class IIIA Felony count.
The charges stem from a disturbance in the raceway stands during a race this past summer. Deputy Cass County Attorney Steve Sunde said the Brindleys were seated a few rows in front of the 13-year-old when an argument over race car drivers began.
The Cassgram reports Theresa Brindley allegedly threw a beer in the face of the girl and struck her; Roger Brindley also is alleged to have struck the girl, leaving a welt on her forehead, said Sunde. A Cass County sheriff’s deputy cited the Brindleys on suspicion of assault. The county attorney’s office formally filed the child abuse charges after reviewing reports.
The 13-year-old’s mother was also cited because she struck the Brindleys after the alleged altercation was broken up, said Sunde. The mother pled guilty to disturbing the peace as part of a plea agreement.
The Brindleys waived preliminary hearings in county court last week. Arraignment in Cass County District Court is November 14th. They remain free on bond.
