For the first time in four years, a brand new, 5,900 gallon aquarium will contain a variety of common Nebraska fish species at the Nebraska State Fair.
From 1885 through 2009, the Game and Parks Commission displayed live fish and other aquatic organisms almost every year. When the fair moved from Lincoln to Grand Island in 2010, the fish have been without a State Fair home.
Surrounding the aquarium will be a waterfall, a plunge pool and a 150-foot meandering stream. These new attractions will be held in the Nebraska Building.
