The Channel 6 News Weather Authority has declared Tuesday an Alert Day.
High temperatures around 96 degrees combined with very high humidity will create heat index readings that approach 105 degrees in some areas.
Extremely hot conditions will be accompanied by strong winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour, with gusts to 40 miles per hour anticipated in the afternoon.
The unseasonably hot weather will last into Tuesday evening but cooler temperatures are forecast for Wednesday.
If you must be outside for long periods of time be sure to stay hydrated and wear light colored clothing. Also take frequent breaks, especially in the later afternoon.
