Another sheriff’s department in eastern Nebraska is investigating a crash at a rural uncontrolled intersection. This time, however, no one was killed.

On Thursday morning, a school bus and a pickup truck collided at an uncontrolled intersection northwest of Valparaiso in Saunders County. The driver of the pickup was not wearing a seatbelt and was killed after being ejected.

Then on Thursday night, Gage County authorities were investigating another crash at an uncontrolled intersection in a rural area. The incident was reported just before 7 p.m. at South 51st Rd & East Locust southeast of Beatrice. Crash investigators determined that 57-year old Merle Ideus of Beatrice was driving eastbound on East Locust Road just as 29-year old Tyler Goes of Wymore was traveling northbound on South 51st Road.

There is no stop sign in any direction and the two vehicles collided. Thankfully, both drivers were wearing a seatbelt. No citation was issued due the fact that it is an open intersection. Goes did complain of head pain and was taken to a hospital by private vehicle.
