Witnesses say Sunday afternoon Clifford McKing was in one apartment at 3124 Poppleton Ave.. The stabbing happened there.
McKing then ran to his own apartment which is in the same building. When officers arrived, they found blood on the ground and blood on the door to McKing's apartment.
Officers forced entry and found McKing suffering from a small puncture wound.
McKing said there was an argument in apartment #2 when the suspect stabbed him with what the victim thought was a screwdriver.
McKing punched the suspect several times and fled to his apartment.
McKing was transported by rescue squad to UNMC and held over night for observation.
The investigation is still continuing. So far police have not reported any arrests.
