Amputee Stranded By Snow Concerns

Tim Gilbert lost a leg but not his independence. Then snow blocked his way out because the MOBY handicap van couldn't get in to pick him up.

Gilbert said, "Its hell on earth. I'm stuck in the house 24-7 unless I get out for therapy."

Gilbert missed two sessions this week because of high snow in his back alley. That's the only way a MOBY van can get to the wheel chair bound amputee.

Director of Metro Curt Simon said, "The driver has a manifest and a schedule to adhere to so getting stuck there could impact a dozen or more other clients down the road."

Gilbert said, "All I ask for is the plow to go down the alley one time."

He got his wish after Six On Your Side contacted Omaha Public Works.
Late Tuesday a plow cleared the back alley.

Simon still wants access checked to make sure the handicap van can make it through but he says Metro and MOBY will do everything possible to get Tim Gilbert to his therapy appointments.
